Success in the pool

Diving for the Wolves ruled at the Oakland County Championships at Clarkston High School last Friday and Saturday.
Madison Verbeke finished in first place, scoring a total of 369.6 points during the 11 dives.
Alivia Walbridge finished in third place with 329.2 points; Jordyn Coin, fourth place, 325.35; and Zoe Paxton, seventh place, 304.25.
Clarkston Girls Swim and Dive finished the meet in 14th place with 149 points.
Rylee Harris finished in 11th place in the 100-yard freestyle event in the time of 54.99 and in 14th place in the 50-yard freestyle, 25.33.
Lillian Kurmaniak finished in 34th place in the 50-yard freestyle, 26.30; and Cora Randolph finished in 38th place in 100-yard freestyle, 59.00.
The top five teams at the Oakland County Championships were Mercy Catholic in first place with 118.2 points; Marian, second, 139.6; Birmingham Seaholm, third, 127.7; Birmingham Groves, fourth, 129.3; and Rochester Adams, fifth, 134.3.
The Wolves beat Troy Athens on September 23, 111-74.
For individual events, in the 50-yard freestyle, Lily Kurmaniak in first place in the time of 26.35; Sophia Walker, second, 29.24; Lucienne Lemieux, fifth, 30.49; 100-yard butterfly, Kurmaniak, second, 1:07.27; Calida Brown, fifth, 1:15.81; 100-yard freestyle, Randolph, first, 59.82; Elaina Kurmaniak, second, 1:02.73; Caitlin McGivern, third, 1:03.46; 100-yard backstroke, Randolph, second, 1:08.24; Bayla Zarzycki, third, 1:18.98; Danatzko, fourth, 1:19.08; 100-yard breaststroke, Olivia Zeiman, first, 1:20.39; Walker, third, 1:29.71; Ava Dillon, fourth, 1:35.49; 200-yard freestyle, Paige Szerlong, second, 2:20.45; McGivern, third, 2:21.15; Lemieux, fifth, 2:25.70; 200-yard IM, Elaina Kurmaniak, second, 2:45.53; Zarzycki, third, 2:48.03; Brown, fourth, 2:49.62; 500-yard freestyle, Mary Sutherland, second, 7:00.24; Zeiman, third, 7:11.43; and Estella Emerson, fourth, 7:59.76.
For relays, the 200-yard medley relay team of Randolph, Zeiman, Harris and Lily Kurmaniak finished in first place in the time of 2:06.18; the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Walker, McGivern, Lemieux and Elaina Kurmaniak finished in first place, 1:53.25; and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Randolph, Harris, Lily Kurmaniak and Elaina Kurmaniak finished in second place, 4:13.91.
For 1-meter diving, Verbeke in first place with 216.9 points and Walbridge in second place, 194 points.
The Wolves head to Lake Orion next Tuesday and Southfield Arts and Technology on October 14. Both meets start at 6 p.m.
