Mountaineer Update for November 3, 2021

Clarkston Everest Collegiate Boys Soccer won their third consecutive regional championship at Notre Dame Prep on Saturday.
Lucas Cross scored the first goal in the game with 50 seconds remaining in the first half against Bad Axe.
He scored again early in the second half.
The Mountaineers added their third goal with a shot from Mark Cross with 13 minutes remaining in the game and Tito Fortuny added the final goal on a penalty kick.

Tom Williams was in the net for the shut out.
The Mountaineers opened the week with a 3-0 win over Lansing Christian in the regional semifinal, Oct. 26.
Though the team was ready to go for the 4 p.m. game – the field at the scheduled location was not due to water and the game was moved to Shrine. After about an hour delay in which headmaster Greg Reichert made a run for diesel to get Shrine’s generator powering the lights up and running, the Mountaineers and Lansing Christian Pilgrims finally took the field.
Everest was ready and off to a quick lead as Fortuny scored in the first ten minutes of play.
Fortuny scored again – this time nine minutes into the second half to put the Mountaineers up 2-0.
Lucas scored the third and final goal of the night with 12:32 remaining in the game.
Williams was goalie for the night.
The Mountaineers play Allen Park Inner-City Baptist on Wednesday at Troy Athens, 7 p.m.
The winner advances to the MHSAA Boys Soccer Division 4 Final on Saturday.

Everest Varsity Football shut out Mount Clemens in their pre-district game on Saturday, 42-0.
The Mountaineers finished the first quarter with a 15-0 lead. Nathan Beggs scored on a 48-yard touchdown run with 7:19 remaining in the quarter and Johnny Nedwick scored on a 4-yard run with three minutes to go in the quarter.
Beggs opened the second quarter with another touchdown on the first play to put the Mountaineers up, 22-0. They finished the first half with a 35-0 lead.
Everest (8-2) plays Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest (6-4) in the district championship this Friday at Clarkston High School stadium. Kick off is 7 p.m.

The Mountaineers finished in fifth place in the MHSAA Girls Cross Country Division 4 Region 36 meet with 97 points at Chandler Park Golf Course on Friday
Junior Alyse Felix led Everest, finishing in 17th place in the time of 22:37.3.
Senior Avery Herrgott finished in 23rd place in the time of 23:03.9; junior Caroline Cross, 25th, 23:11.1; freshman Erica Walker, 27th, 23:30.1; sophomore Eve Herrgott, 28th, 23:35.8; freshman Olivia Leahy, 35th, 23:52.8; and junior Stephanie Suran, 39th, 24:32.5.
Lutheran Northwest finished as regional champs with 34 points; Allen Park Cabrini, second , 75 points; Royal Oak Shrine, third, 76; Auburn Hills Oakland Christian, fourth, 89;; Southfield Christian, sixth, 162; Austin Catholic, seventh, 187; and Riverview Gabriel Richard, eighth, 226.
