“One cool principal” Students got a kick out of Clarkston Elementary Principal Mike Kehoe as friendly Frosty the Snowman at the school’s Winter Carnival.
“City OK’s Mills Mall addition” The Clarkston City Council unanimously approved the site plan for the Clarkston Mills Mall expansion, which was slated to create 9,932 square feet of new office space at the building.
“Fife, McCormick pitch hard work, goals to Bailey Lake students” Two Clarkston basketball legends used themselves as examples of success for students at Bailey Lake Elementary. Dugan Fife and Tim McCormick, both Clarkston High School and University of Michigan graduates, spoke to an excited group of elementary students at the Pistons Partners Clinic, Jan. 21.

“Last ditch effort fails” A last ditch effort to avoid a special clerk’s election in Independence Township by trading off a planning commission appointment against the clerk’s job failed Friday night.
“Jaycees honor Jones” Jaycees of the Clarkston area celebrated their tenth anniversary and named Village Councilman Robert Jones recipient of their distinguished service award.
“Porritt sets record” George Porritt, a guard for Clarkston Junior High’s Ninth Grade Basketball team, set a new school scoring record with 36 points in his team’s 72-53 victory over Sashabaw Junior High.
75 years ago – 1947
“Charles M. Cross honored on birthday” A few friends gathered at Howard Johnson’s home to honor Mrs. Johnson’s father, Charles M. Cross on his 73rd birthday. The friends get together each year on this date for birthday cake and an evening of reminiscing.
“Bank employees have party” The girls employed at the Clarkston State Bank held a dinner and theater party. Dinner was served to the group at Frames Restaurant after which they attended the evening performance of “Oklahoma” at Cass Theater in Detroit.
“Clarkston locals” Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Walter left on Sunday for a six week vacation in Florida. They expected to spend some time in Lake Worth and visiting Clarkston people who are vacationing in the south.
