At home in The Beach House

Brandon Twp.- Since buying WOW Tan May 1, new owner Kathy Zardus has made significant changes in the business, with more to come.
The salon located at 950 Ortonville Road has been renamed The Beach House and besides the new sign out front, the interior has an all new look, too.
Inside, the walls of The Beach House have been painted teal and bright yellow, to give the tanning salon a fun, summery, beach atmosphere. Fan systems have also been repaired.
But the change Zardus is most excited about is pricing. She has lowered prices on tanning and has brought back student discounts. Entry level tanning is only $19.95 per month. Other reduced packages include the VIP, a frequent tanner club in which members sign up for a year and can have unlimited visits each month. Tanners can also puchase tanning in denominations of five, 10, or 20 visits per month.
Zardus was previously a manager of a Lake Orion tanning salon for five years. When she saw WOW Tan was up for sale, she thought it was a great opportunity.
‘It’s been a dream of mine for a long time,? she said. ‘This is a friendly community. I like working with the public and being part of the community.?
The Beach House has 10 different tanning beds, including a ‘stand-up,? and an ultrabronzer. Each bed has five different levels.
‘There is no burning if you follow instructions,? says Zardus, who offers a variety of tanning lotions at her business. ‘It’s safer than tanning outside.?
Zardus is certified in Smart Tan and will evaluate clients? skin-type for recommendation of which level they should tan at and for what length of time.
The Beach House will be adding new beds in the future, and Zardus also hopes to hire a nail tech.
