The Clarkston Boys Varsity Golf team ruled the OAA Red at the league championship held at Oakhurst Golf & Country Club, May 21.
The Wolves finished as league champions. They went into the meet with 23 points and earned six to take first place in the league.
“Winning the league is always a goal for our program,” said Pete Gallagher, head coach.
“Coming in to this season, the expectations were high,” he added. “The team has worked hard to be in the position they are as ranked No. 1 in the state. The strength of the team is we have a very strong senior class leading us, but our team is very strong from the No. 1 spot to the No. 5 spot.”
For the day, they finished with a score of 294. Noah Bridgeman led the pack, hitting a 70. Alex Oda hit a 72; Patrick Deardorff, 75; Harry Bowman, 77; Cole Smaka, 79; and Cameron Thomas, 82.
The Wolves finished in second place at the Oakland County tournament at Pontiac Country Club, May 15.
“Unfortunately we did not win the county championship,” said Gallagher. “We will learn from the loss and use the experience to become a better team.”
Bridgeman finished with a 70 for first place. Deardorff shared sixth place, shooting a 75. Bowman hit a 79 and Oda hit a 81.
They won the Grand Blanc/OLSM Top 50 Junior Tour with a score of 316, May 20.
The boys host and compete in the MHSAA Boys Golf Lower Peninsula Region 5 championship at Pine Knob Golf Club on Wednesday.
“Going into regionals, the team is in a great spot,” Gallagher said. “All of the players are playing well, the confidence is high, and the players can’t wait to compete. The success of this team has been four years in the making and its now the time for us to get it done.”
