Players from the Girls 2021 North Oakland Wolfpack team finished their practice at Clarkston Junior High School in a unique way on October 11.
They raised $2,500 for the American Red Cross – Hurricane Irma Relief during their Free Throws for Life.
The Wolfpack heard from Carmen and Rose Ortiz before the event began. Both Carmen and Rose are local and have family in Puerto Rico. They described what residents in Puerto Rico are facing after the hurricane and what they would continue to face for months to come.
Then, the players held an hour long free throw challenge during which for every success shot made an anonymous sponsor would donate $2.
The team of 12 made close to 2,000 attempts and successfully made 70 percent of their throws.
“We were able to hit the cap of $2,500 in the final minutes,” said co-head coaches, Robert Bosart and Bill Cesarek. “It was a great night in Clarkston!”
The players are from Clarkston and Lake Orion. For more information about North Oakland Wolfpack at northoaklandwolfpack.com.
