Brandon icers wrap up regular season on high note

Brandon wrapped up its regular season on a roll with wins in their last three regular season games.
Brandon wrapped up their regular season with a 6-0 shutout of the Bloomfield Unified team Feb. 26. Mike Cybulski scored two first period goals, each assisted by Mike Ross and Steve Tallman, that started the Blackhawks on their way.
Brandon Newman scored two goals each, while Ross and Skidmore scored once each during the win.
After a scoreless first period, the Blackhawks totally dominated Flint Metro League rival Oxford, earning a 10-1 win in a Feb. 25 matchup.
The Blackhawks asserted command of the game with three goals in the first five minutes of the period, as Alex Hockey, Craig Skidmore, and Mike Cybulski all scored. Kyle Jackson and Steve Tallman added a goal each later in the second period to put Brandon up 5-0 at the intermission.
Blake McLellan then scored with 10:10 left in the third to put Brandon up 6-0. Sean Degler scored the lone Oxford goal with 8:41 left in the third, but Cybulski scored twice and Mark Westphal and Brandon Newman one each to wrap up the rout.
The Blackhawks earned a 3-1 win against St. Clair in non-league action Feb. 23.
St. Clair opened the scoring in the first period. After Brandon was penalized for too many men on the ice, the Saints scored with 41 seconds left in the first to take a 1-0 lead.
From there, it was all Blackhawks. Mike Ross scored a shorthanded goal with 3:25 left in the second, on assists from Tallman and Tony Kraydich to tie the contest at one.
The Blackhawks pulled ahead for good with 2:05 left in the third period, when Mike Cybulski scored on assists from Ross and Steve Tallman. Kyle Jackson added an insurance goal with 38 seconds left in the third.
Jeff Hammond earned the win in goal for the Blackhawks.
