The Lady Blackhawks outshot the Lady Martians in the Goodrich vs. Brandon soccer game on Monday. The final whistle blew with Brandon ahead 4 to 1.
Brandon Varsity Coach Greg Back said his team did not start playing well until the second half.
‘In the first half, we played terrible,? Back said. ‘Goodrich beat us to every ball.?
Olivia Glowacki won the ball in front of Brandon’s goal with 12 minutes left in the first half. Glowacki crossed to teammate Jolynn Zirnhelt, who headed the ball in the back of the net.
Goodrich’s lead lasted until the second half, when Brandon’s Caci Clippert shot past Goodrich’s goalie, Leah Ross. Clippert’s goal was followed by netted shots from Mikki Nuccio, Lauren Schumacher and Jessica Lane.
Nuccio was involved in every goal, with three assists.
Goodrich Varsity Coach Evan Huizenga said he was pleased his team took advantage of their opportunities in the first half.
‘We ran out of gas in the second half,? he said.
Huizenga said a reason for the slowing pace of his players was an empty bench.
‘We were playing with only two subs, so there’s only so many times you can sub,? Huizenga said.
