Brandon-Oxford skiers earn split decision in season opener

In a Jan. 19 meet at Mt. Holly, the Brandon-Oxford girls ski team fared better than their male counterparts.
The girls team defeated Grand Blanc 20-60, capturing five of the top six spots in the slalom. Karen Offer won first in that event (59:21), while Grace Auchterlonie placed second (63:99), Lauren Bayliss third (68:39) and Miranda Christen fourth (68:61) Heather Tiffany rounded out the scoring for Brandon-Oxford, finishing sixth (74:55).
In the giant slalom, Offer finished first (60:14), Auchterlonie second (63:35), Bayliss third (66:10), Christen fourth (66:74), and Tiffany fifth (69:57).
The boys team lost a hard-fought matchup against Grand Blanc, 30-44. Shawn Dean of Oxford finished second in the slalom (62:02), while Robert Krug of Brandon placed fifth (64:52).
Krug was the top finisher in the giant slalom, placing third (61.82), while Dean finished fourth (63:89) and Aaron Van Dis sixth (64:51).
