Clarkston grad uses passion to help others

Through life experiences Angela Avery found her passion later in life.
Avery, a Clarkston graduate, opened The Counseling Studio in downtown in March.
Offering therapy sessions for people of all ages Avery smiled and explained, ‘I am an eclectic counselor.”
She uses a variety of approaches to help treat clients facing life issues. Her variety of methods include person centered therapy mixed with creative humor and Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
Avery went to graduate school to obtain her degree at an older age, after life experiences led her towards a career in counseling.
It was life experiences like surviving divorce and having loved ones with mental health issues which led her to understand and appreciate the value of counseling. Working within a family business and parenting two teenage girls also provided Avery insight she feels is helpful to clients….
