Clarkston SCAMP raises money at annual golf outing

INDEPENDENCE TWP. — Clarkston SCAMP held its annual golf outing last month to raise money to benefit SCAMP camp, a summer camp for special needs children and adults in the area.
The golf outing yielded over $32,000 in money raised which will go directly to benefit SCAMP camp.
“The cost per SCAMPer is approximately $2,000 for our 5 week program. Tuition to SCAMP is $700 (in district) or $1,100 (out of district), thus not covering the actual cost of the camp. In addition, 52% of our SCAMPers receive financial aid,” said SCAMP Executive Director Amy Darnell. “This event will help us fund the camp experience for many who may not otherwise have the opportunity. In our almost 50 years, no one has ever been turned away for financial reasons.”
With the holiday’s coming up, SCAMP has a number of upcoming opportunities to donate to the program like the Jingle Mingle on Nov. 9 and its fundraiser at North End Candle Market on Dec. 3.
