Clarkston Varsity Baseball bounced back from their loss against Oxford in game one to win the next two games in the series last week.
“It was special not only to win the series but win the Oxford Strong Classic Trophy,” said Addison Turk, head coach. “It means a lot to honor the victims (of the shooting at Oxford High School, Nov. 30, 2021) and beat our rivals. It felt good.”
The Wolves lost the first game on April 18, 2-0.
The next day Oxford scored two runs again, but this time Clarkston had nine runs to tie the series.
Carson White pitched for 5.2 innings and only allowed one hit.
“He was fantastic,” said Turk. “He struck out seven and didn’t allow any runs.”
Luke Spicer went 3-for-5 at bat with two RBIs. Payton O’Neil went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Camden Williamson went 2-for-4 and had one walk. Richard Westerman went 3-for-4.
For Oxford, Logan Marshall had a two-run home run. Drake Krawczyk pitched for three innings with four strikeouts.

Clarkston finished the series with a 4-1 win in game three last Thursday at home. Spicer pitched for six innings, striking out 11 and allowing one run. Preston Stout wrapped the game in the seventh inning. The Wolves had nine hits as a team.
For Oxford, Brody Moore went 2-for-4 with one RBI and Max Lovins went 2-for-3.
Clarkston started their three-game series against Stoney Creek the week prior the same way – with a loss, 6-1.
“In both first games of both series, our at bats weren’t very good,” Turk said. “We weren’t very good at the plate. Then, in game two of both games we turned around. It gave us momentum going into game three for both of the series.”
He added defense has been great.
“Our pitching has been fantastic. Even in our two losses it was really good,” he said. “It is our strength – pitching and defense. We played to our strengths in both series.
The Wolves won the second game against Stoney Creek, 7-1, April 11. White went 3-for-5, two doubles with three RBIs. Spicer went 2-for-5 with one run scored. Williamson went 2-for-2 with two walks. White pitched a complete game giving up one run, had no walks and struck out four.
They won the series with a 10-1 win, April 13. Lochlan Stoudt went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. White had three RBIs. Spicer pitched five innings with three hits and seven strikeouts. Williamson pitched two innings with no hits.
“It was nice to get off to a good start and win two out of three,” Turk said. “Every series is tough. It’s a very competitive league. Moving forward it’s not going to get any easier. West Bloomfield is next week and they are very talented.”
The Wolves finished last week with a 5-2 loss to Macomb Dakota on Saturday.
“Typically they are a talented team,” Turk said. “They usually have some good players so we are looking forward to it.”
Clarkston (7-5) started their three-game series against West Bloomfield on Monday and Tuesday. They finish the series on Thursday at West Bloomfield at 4:30 p.m.
They have a double header at Brighton High School on Friday, 4 p.m.
The Wolves host Rochester on Monday, May 1 and Tuesday, May 2 for their fourth OAA Red series. Both games start at 4 p.m.
