Concerts in the Park nixed for 2020, due to COVID concerns

There will be no concerts at Depot Park this summer.
After emerging, new concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus have been revealed from healthcare members, the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, in conjunction with the Village of the City of Clarkston elected officials, made the decision last week to cancel all remaining dates of the 2020 Concerts in the Park series in the midst of ongoing health considerations.
The June portion of the schedule had been canceled in May and just two weeks ago, the July schedule was announced, as Magic Bus was slated to be the headliner on July 10.
“Our hope was to provide our community a portion of this summer tradition within the current state mandates, we ultimately decided to reverse our decision in the best interest of our community,” read a statement from the chamber.
The chamber also thanked sponsors that supported this event throughout this time, including McLaren Clarkston (presenting sponsor), Bowman Chevrolet (local talent sponsor), Genisys Credit Union (face painting sponsor), and LaFontaine Automotive Group (ice cream sponsor).
Corporate sponsors included Anthem Advisors of Raymond James, Beauchamp Water Treatment Solutions, Canterbury-on-the-Lake Retirement Community, Clarkston Area Optimist Club, MSU Federal Credit Union, Regiani Holistic Dental Center, and Spencer Real Estate, LLC.
The chamber plans to bring the event back in 2021.
