County Line Road drain issues addressed

The Road Commission for Oakland County will close a section of County Line Road/Ray Road (the county line between Oakland and Genesee counties) between M-15 and State Park Road for one to two days, between Oct. 26 and Nov. 1.
RCOC will be extending ditches along this section, and adding storm sewers in places, to resolve a drainage problem, said Scott Sintkowski, RCOC maintenance staff engineer. During the closures, the detour route will be M-15 to Oakwood Road to State Park Road and back to County Line/Ray Road and vice versa.
The improvements should be welcomed by area residents who have battled rising water along the section of roadway just east of M-15.
Over the years RCOC crews have raised the roadway an estimated six-to-eight feet to compensate for flooding along both sides of County Line Road. However, since late last year the water depth has escalated to the point where several homes were in danger of being flooded.
Last April, representatives from Groveland Township, Atlas Township, the RCOC, the Genesee County Road Commission, the Department of Environmental Quality, Genesee County Drain Commissioner Division of Water & Waste Services, State Representative Paul Scott and several residents impacted by the flood, gathered to help resolve the issue.
