Like the past seven years, CreekFest is offering eight hours of family fun. The difference this year is that it’s completely free.
‘In the past, we’ve charged $5 for kids to play in the bouncehouse, but we’re not doing that this year,? said Liz Waters, coordinator of the 7th Annual CreekFest. ‘This year, it’s free for everything.?
And she said that’s a deal, considering the events planned for the festival, which takes place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on June 5 in downtown Ortonville.
The schedule includes a self-sustainable living demonstration, educating the community on ways to live more environmentally.
‘If I were a kid, I’d be looking forward to the animal shows and pet adoptions,? Waters said.
There will also be a Diaper Derby, which involves children younger than 1-year-old.
‘They’ll have a race, only crawling, to their parents,? the coordinator said.
Along with these new additions to the schedule, CreekFest will be featuring a pancake breakfast from 9-11 a.m., a poetry contest between 1 and 3 p.m., the second annual pet parade at 11 a.m., and several other educational and entertaining activities for a range of age groups.
‘It’s a free community family-friendly event,? Waters said. ‘Just think of it as a free-for-all with lots of activities going on.?
This year’s CreekFest will be sponsored by the Ortonville DDA and local sponsors.
