One year after approval by the township, Culver’s restaurant held a ground breaking on M-24 at Dutton Road last Tuesday afternoon.
Owner Joe Zimmer said he expects to open for business by the end of June.
Zimmer was joined by township officials, as well as Culver’s co-founder Craig Culver (pictured).
Refreshments were served, including Culver’s famous homemade custard.
Zimmer said he is excited to bring the new chain into Orion.
‘Our standards, Culver’s standards, are so much higher than everyone else’s,? Zimmer said.
A second restaurant, on Sashabaw Road (just north of I-75) in Clarkston, opened last summer.
The chain first opened in 1984 in Wisconsin and has over 20 restaurants in Michigan.
‘We’re really excited about spreading this movement in the Lake Orion area,? said Phil Keiser, president and chief operating officer of Culver’s.
‘Culverization of the Nation shines the light on what makes Culver’s unique ? great food and service and, more than anything, our uncompromising desire to make guests happy.?
Known for their patented ButterBurgers, Culver’s is closing in on 400 independently owned and operated restaurants in 16 states.
In addition to Culver’s, the Dutton Corporate Centre will include an O’Charley’s restaurant, a Bank of Auburn Hills and a Spring Hills Suites Hotel.
