INDEPENDENCE TWP. — Everest Collegiate High School and Academy performed a stage production of C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe earlier last month.
This year’s drama productions have been led by student director, senior Caroline Beggs.
“Directing is not something I expected to do ever, let alone as a student. I am so grateful I was able to continue the program and contribute to the community that had a huge impact on my own growth,” Beggs said. “I joined the Everest drama program as a shy but energetic eight-year-old. I leave as an adult who is continuing to grow in her confidence and leadership abilities. This is what theater brings out in people, and why it is so important to Everest’s formation of students. It takes children and turns them into adults who speak confidently and empathetically. Being 100% confident all the time is extremely difficult, but theater teaches us to fake it till we make it. We learn how to see life from other peoples’ perspectives, which is so integral to serving others.”
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a fantasy tale and was the first published story in the Chronicles of Narnia series. The story follows four children on their journey in Narnia, a fictional land of magical creatures and talking animals.
