Father admits son made mistakes, but claims police did, as well

Charges against his 19-year-old son are all still pending, but Anthony Saferian, Sr. claims there are issues with how the Lake Orion Police Department handled the case.
Police Chief Jerry Narsh said the case is going forward correctly and stood by information provided in the May 7 edition of The Review (‘Police arrest ‘arrogant? thief,? on Page 1).
The elder Saferian said police went into his son’s apartment two times with just one search warrant, but Narsh said his department obtained two separate warrants.
‘They were both issued by the court and were fine,? he said, adding that police never even entered the apartment on the second warrant.
Saferian also noted that his son and other underage drinkers were released from police custody back into the streets.
‘They’re charging all these teenagers with MIPs and then allowed to them leave the police station drunk,? he said.
Narsh said the younger Saferian was 19, and thus is considered an adult by law. He added that police always call if the subject is a minor and allow those 18 and older to make calls, but Saferian did not.
Finally, Saferian’s father said that his son was not evicted, as the story said, but rather there was ‘a mutual agreement to terminate their lease? reached by his son and the landlord of his Broadway apartment.
The elder Saferian admits his son has made some mistakes and will help him see them through.
‘I love him and I hope he gets the help he needs.?
Narsh said the resolution of the case belongs in the judicial system, and he, too, hopes the 19-year-old Saferian can turn things around.
