An 18-year-old high school student will complete 50 hours of community service and spend the next year on probation for threats sent during an instant message conversation back in February.
Lyndzee Lorenz, and the 15-year-old female victim were both in tears in the 52-3 district courtroom of Judge Lisa Asadoorian last Wednesday.
‘She was very remorseful,? Lorenz? attorney Allen Wolf said. ‘She wanted to apologize right after this happened.?
Lorenz made several threats, including one of murder. The victim relayed the threats to her mother, who contacted Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Wolf said Lorenz wanted to apologize immediately for her actions, but a restraining order prevented contact with the victim.
‘Obviously, at the time of sentencing, she apologized,? Wolf said.
She pleaded guilty to a one-year misdemeanor of using a computer to commit a crime and a six-month misdemeanor of malicious use of a telecommunications device.
Lorenz, a senior at Lake Orion High School, was suspended after the incident. She withdrew from LOHS and enrolled in the adult education program.
‘That was a compromise to avoid having to go through the process at the school board,? Wolf said.
Lorenz is expected to graduate this June.
