Girls? swim and dive lacks depth

Despite some strong performances, the Lady Dragons? swim and dive teams lost to Harrison Oct. 13, 111-75.
Head Coach Darin Abbasse said while the team is competitive in the difficult OAA Red Division, it simply lacks the depth to support their top swimmers.
‘We’re still searching for that strength,? said Abbasse. ‘Even still, the way the kids finished the meet is a testimony to the skill we have on the team.
‘As I always tell the girls, you always want to win the last event and that’s exactly what the did. The swimmers that took 400m freestyle were senior Annie Jongekrijg, freshmen Bethany Abramczyk and Danielle Kudla and sophomore Paige Monro.?
Inidividual winners in the meet were Jongekrijg (100m and 200m freestyle), Abramczyk (500m freestyle), and junior Katie Corcoran, who won the diving event.
Corcoran is ranked fifteenth in the county for diving.
Next for the swim team is Clarkston on Thursday. Abbasse said the meet will be competitive. Lake Orion is still searching for its first victory.
‘The point spread will not be as great,? he said. ‘Clarkston has some great swimmers and depth, but it’s a rivalry, so my swimmers will probably swim their best times.?
