Goodrich cagers turn up jets in third to defeat Atherton

The Goodrich basketball team rebounded from a tough loss to Bentley with a key Genesee Area Conference Red Division win.
The Martians used a third-quarter surge to defeat host Atherton 57-50 in a Feb. 12 contest.
Goodrich, which trailed 22-19 at the half, came roaring out of the gates in the third quarter, scoring 23 points to take a 42-34 lead at the end of the quarter.
The Martians? win was a team effort, as ten different players scored in the game. Leading the way for the Martians was Michael Skinner, who drilled two 3-pointers on his way to 12 points. Wayne Coulman chipped in with 11 points.
Max Bell led the Martians with eight rebounds, while Skinner, Brett Bowers, and Ben Wilson pulled down six apiece.
Mark Beagle led Atherton with 14 points.
The Martians return to action when they travel to Byron Tuesday, Feb. 24.
