The morning following I asked someone what he said. They quoted me CBS’s opening their newscast with the story of a deflated NFL football. Proof again that news casters know what the public wants to hear.

? When did it change from ‘we the people? to ‘screw the people.?

Check this from fellow columnist Dick Milliman. He’s been a close follower of our Lansing politics for over 40 years.
His recent Almanack column left me thinking the impossible. Is Dick right that there really are some cost cutting going on in our capitol?
The House budget for 2014 is about 11 percent less than their 2010 budget of $2.3 billion.
The Senate cuts leave a budget of $864 million for 2015, down almost 7 percent from 2012.
And, during the 2013-14 session, Congress passed 297 new laws, which is almost 100 fewer than the 386 adopted during the 2009-10 sessions.
Then Dick asks readers: Could these examples of internal thrift result from tight-fisted Republican control of both the House and Senate, in keeping with the GOP’s reputation about spending public funds?
