A 17-year-old senior at Lake Orion High School is facing criminal charges for threatening a 15-year-old school mate last Wednesday night in an instant messaging discussion that took place off of school grounds.
Lyndzee Lorenz was charged last Friday with a pair of misdemeanors, one of using a computer to commit a crime and another of malicious use of a telecommunications device, after sending several messages to the victim, including one that read: ‘I will murder u.?
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report, the 15-year-old and her mother contacted the Orion substation, and deputies went to both homes to investigate.
Deputies said Lorenz confessed and then wrote a statement to that effect. She had sent several threatening messages in a span of about one-and-a-half hours, according to the report.
Though the incident took place off of the LOHS campus, Deputy Randy Leppek, the student resource officer, was notified of the situation.
Lorenz was advised not to have any contact with the other student involved.
