It appears State Rep. Ruth Johnson has won the Republican primary race for the Oakland County Clerk’s Office.
With 545 of 549 precincts reporting at press time, Johnson (R-Holly) was beating incumbent Clerk G. William Caddell by a margin of 50,244 to 39,647.
In Oxford Township, Johnson trounced Caddell by a 2-to-1 margin.
Johnson received 1,242 votes to Caddell’s 600 votes.
In Addison Township, Johnson beat Caddell by a margin of 424 to 268.
Johnson will face Democrat Jason Ellenburg in November.
In the Republican primary race to replace the term-limited Johnson as the state representative for the 46th district Orion Township Treasurer James Marleau won with 5,469 votes with all 39 districts reporting.
Candidate Roger Deaton, of Groveland Township, came in second with 2,507 votes. Warren Lucas, of Brandon Township, received 919 votes while Gary Warner, of Oxford Township, garnered 908 votes.
In Oxford Township, Marleau received 910 votes, Deaton 603 votes, Lucas 146 votes and Warner 124 votes.
In Addison Township, Marleau got 296 votes, Deaton 231 votes, Lucas 71 votes and Warner 58 votes.
Marleau will face Democrat Daniel Myslakowski, of Orion, in November.
Oakland County Commissioner Bill Patterson, of Oxford, ran unopposed in the Republican primary for District #1. He garnered 4,570 votes in the district’s 20 precincts.
In November, Patterson will face Democratic challenger Bradon Galbraith, of Addison, who received 828 votes in his unopposed primary.
Patterson received 1,713 votes in Oxford Township while Galbraith picked up 286 votes.
In Addison Township, Patterson received 618 votes to Galbraith’s 85 votes.
