This winter season reindeer did more than light up the Christmas sky and guide Santa to the houses of good little boys and girls.
On Jan. 21, Christmas In Action of Oakland County Clarkston Area hosted ‘Reindeer Races? at the Colombiere Center on Big Lake Road in Springfield Township.
Guests could bet on which reindeer would win races atop table race courses. The decorated wooden reindeer moved when die were rolled. If the reindeer’s number was rolled, it moved up one space towards the finish line. The first to cross the line won.
The reindeer of various themes were sponsored by area businesses and groups. Proceeds from the event went to CIA’s community efforts, according to board member Monica Hefty.
Christmas in Action is a nonprofit coalition of volunteers, family members, friends, members and coworkers whose mission is to provide the opportunity for low income seniors and handicapped homeowners to live comfortably and safely in their homes. The group comes together the last Saturday in April to provide free home repairs to qualified homeowners.
