The Clarkston Junior High School gym was filled with cheers and smiles as players at Clarkston Volleyball Camp worked on their skills last week.
Kelly Pinner, head coach for Clarkston Varsity Volleyball, saw a lot of talent especially from the players going into grades 9-12.
“I am excited for the fall. I have seen a lot of talent,” Pinner told campers in the first session. “I am excited about the numbers – this is the biggest older camp we have ever had. I am excited for Clarkston Volleyball. I am excited about the fall – it’s going to be a great season. We are going to be solid.”
She added it was the biggest camp for both sessions: grades 9-12 and grades 5-8, which already has her planning to add the upper court when the camp is back at the high school gym next year.
The camp included experienced players, new players and some just trying out the sport.
“We had our first gentleman at the camp which is exciting – it means boys are getting interested, too,” Pinner said.
The fall season begins August 14. There will be open gym sessions in July at the junior high school.
Clarkston Volleyball Camp is held through Clarkston Community Education and Independence Township Parks, Recreation and Seniors.
