Losses mark approach of season’s end for cagers

The regular season ended last week for the Lake Orion High School varsity boys basketball team with losses to Rochester Adams and Waterford Mott.
On Feb. 25, the Dragons traveled to Rochester to take on the Highlanders of Rochester Adams. The Dragons were defeated, 69-46. Carl McDonald led the Dragons with 10 points, while Nate Recknagel followed with nine. Luke Kendziorski had eight, and Jim Couretas had six points for Lake Orion.
Adrian Schaffer led Adams with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Mike Jones had 13, and Same Hakkani had 11.
On Feb. 28, the Dragons hosted Waterford Mott, eventually falling in a disappointing one-point loss to the Corsairs, 46-45.
Brent Skiba led the team with 14 points, while McDonald had 11. Joel Malkasian had nine for the Dragons, while Robert Kennedy had six.
Lake Orion finished the regular season with a 4-16, 2-12 record in the inaugural season in OAA II. Districts began on March 3, and post-season play continues with regionals beginning on March 11.
