The Clarkston Chiefs Youth Football and Cheer Organization had a phenomenal playoff season!
All teams were cheered on since August by a hardworking cheerleading squad led by Jen Ferman. The Clarkston Chief Cheerleaders, of 59 young ladies and growing, had a very strong showing at a highly competitive MegaCheer at Stoney Creek High School, Oct. 26, with the JV squad placing second overall.
Three of the six football teams advanced to the Northern Youth Football League (NYFL) Superbowl this weekend.
Freshman Blue finished their regular/playoff season 10-0, then defeated Grand Blanc Red this weekend for the Superbowl championship, 12-0.
Both JV White and JV Blue went into the Superbowl game with a 10-0 without one opponent scoring through those ten games.
It was an extraordinary opportunity to have two Clarkston JV teams, the JV Blue and JV White, compete in the Superbowl this year.
Stellar athletes, teammates, and above all, friends played each other in a highly competitive game. Ultimately, JV Blue prevailed over JV White, 27-6.
Freshman Blue is led by Head Coach Kevin McGuire; JV White led by Head Coach Adam Kern; and JV Blue led by Head Coach Jayme Mutter.
Between the Freshman and JV teams, the Chiefs have collectively advanced to an NYFL Superbowl 52 times. The Freshman teams have advanced 22 times and the JV times advanced 30 times.
As the Clarkston Chiefs approaches 50 years this January, the organization’s focus remains on supporting the Clarkston area and children with experiences that last a lifetime.
With an organization of nearly 200 athletes, these young players and cheerleaders are taught the importance of scholastics, hard work, community service, integrity, as well as the sport of football and cheerleading.
We all look forward to seeing them lead in our community for years to come – on and off the field!
