Clarkston Everest Collegiate Boys Varsity Basketball competed in the Catholic High School League for the second time in Everest history.
They defeated Cardinal Mooney in the semifinal in overtime on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 74-71. With four seconds left on the clock at 71-71 in the extra time, junior Luke Walker scored on a three-point shot.
The Mountaineers lost to Riverview Gabriel Richard in the CHSL final on Saturday, 47-43.
The Mountaineers wrap the regular season this Thursday against Sterling Heights Parkway Christian at home.
They host the MHSAA Boys Basketball Division 4 District 126 competition next week.
Leading in the the successful 13-5 season and going into playoffs are the four returning starters from last year’s season – seniors Lucas Cross, Johnny Nedwick, and Joseph Thibodeau and Walker. New to the starting line up this season is Sawyer Arbogast.
The Mountaineers play Pontiac Academy for Excellence in the semifinal on Wednesday, March 9 at 7 p.m. The district final is Friday, March 11, 7 p.m.

Clarkston Everest Collegiate Girls Varsity Basketball hosts Division 4 District 126 this week. The Mountaineers play Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The district finals is on Friday against Auburn Hills Oakland Christian, 7 p.m.
The winner moves on to Regional 32 at Our Lady of the Lakes for the semifinals on Tuesday, March 8, 5:30 p.m.

The Mountaineers finished in sixth place at the MHSAA Competitive Cheer Division 4 Regional 8 at Michigan Center last Saturday.
They finished with a total score 701.88. They finished the first round with 214.40 points; second round, 198.88 points; and third round, 290.60 points.
The top four finishers for the region heading to the state championship are Hudson who finished in first place with 758.92 points; Adrian Madison, second, 721.26 points; Montrose, third, 720.54 points; and Addison, fourth, 714.54 points.

Mountaineer Ethan Brodbeck and his teammates on Bishop Foley United finished the winter season in their first round of playoffs last week.
Bishop Foley United lost to Brother Rice in the MHSAA Ice Hockey Division 2, Region 14 Semifinal last Friday, 9-1. The lone goal was made by Tyler Dempsey.
