Scrapbook lovers may find a new home in downtown Lake Orion with the opening of Memories In Time Scrapbooking, located at 121 S. Broadway.
According to owner Dianne Gladstone, the store carries scrapbook supplies, as well as rubber stamps and supplies for card making.
They also offer classes, as well as ‘crop nights? where participants can sit and do their scrapbook at an open scrapbook night.
Gladstone said that she also hopes to incorporate a few gift items, such as frames, in the future, as well as getting to point where people can do digital scrapbooking. She has the software, but needs to purchase the necessary tools.
‘That’s our future, that’s what we’re aiming for,? she added about digital scrapbooking, where you design your full scrapbook page on the computer (including pictures) and then print it out.
For Gladstone, opening her own store was a like a dream come true.
‘Opening a business is something that I’ve always wanted to do,? she said, adding that for many years she sold scrapbook supplies for a company.
‘I’ve scrapped and I’ve stamped for about 16 years,? Gladstone added. ‘I have a passion for it and I love being with people and teaching them. It’s just a fun thing to do.?
According to Gladstone, it you like taking your pictures and making something out of them, then scrapbooking might be a good activity for you to try.
‘It doesn’t have to be an expensive craft and project to do,? she said, noting that she has received compliments from various customers about the reasonable prices the store offers.
The store offers a variety of themes, from sports to babies to marriage to trips to just having fun, and Gladstone said she will do special orders if you can’t find what you need.
It’s Gladstone’s goal to keep the store’s environment as nice, quiet and intimate, a place where scrapbookers can come and spend hours scrapping.
Gladstone said she will offer this by reservation, where you can sit and dedicate yourself for a period of time, as well as be in a place where you have the supplies and help you might need right at your fingertips.
‘It’s a camaraderie-type of atmosphere,? she added.
The store is open Monday, 3-7 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and closed on Tuesday and Sunday.
