INDEPENDENCE TWP. — Clarkston Everest Collegiate Varsity Football welcomed family, friends and fans to their home opener with an athletic field ribbon cutting and blessing, Sept. 7.
Everest President Michael Nalepa, cited from John’s Gospel when he welcomed Mountaineer families and friends to the event sharing “Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.” -John 12:24
It was through the generous support and sacrifice of many over Everest’s 33 years and, most recently, the Phyle families and Milosch family the Mountaineer athletic field was completely redone.
The new stadium area features a releveled and seeded field, fencing, a pavilion picnic area, expanded seating, accessibility, and an improve press box.
For the past several years, Everest’s team researched the best possible solution for their athletic field which has significant downfalls which contribute to rapid field deterioration. Donations through the years have been used for press box updates, lights, field goal posts and more.
The newly-renovated Phyle Field opened with EC football defeating defending state champions, Ubly, 21-14.
