No vote on township master plan, more review

Atlas Twp.-The township planning commission did not take action on changes to the master plan during Wednesday’s meeting. The master plan, which is reviewed every five years, is a guide for land use in the community it serves.
Rick Misek, planning commisson chairman, said several proposed resolutions including low cost housing, senior housing in addition to preservation of the rural character will continue to be addressed.
On May 20 the planning commission hosted a public hearing at the Goodrich Middle School Cafetorium which drew about 60 residents to discuss the township master plan. Misek, along with commission members responded to questions and several accusations that had surfaced.
Since then Nick Lomako, township planning consultant from WadeTrim Engineers has addressed many of the issues raised by residents and will continue the research the suggestions stemming from the May meeting.
The township master plan was also reviewed by neighboring municipalities including, Brandon, Davison, Grand Blanc, Groveland, Hadley and Holly townships. Also, the Village of Goodrich, along with the Genesee County Metro Planning Commission, the Shiawasee, Genesee, Lapeer Regional Planning Commission, Consumers Energy and Charter Communications.

A vote may be considered at the 7 p.m., July 15 planning commission meeting.
