OHS students attend MYLead conference

Two Oxford High School students were selected to attended this year’s Michigan Youth Leadership Conference at Concordia University.
Lindsay Anderson was chosen as the OHS tenth grade MYLead ambassador, while Sabina Grusnick, last year’s ambassador, was selected to return for a second year as a Team Ambassador (TA).
‘It was incredible,? said Anderson. ‘The people there are leaders with a ton of motivation. I have a group of friends now that are amazing, and we still talk.?
This year’s conference lasted three days, significantly longer than last year’s one day, and featured more team building, group discussion, panel presenters and problem solving sessions. In addition, participants stayed on campus, giving them an opportunity to meet more of their peers.
‘It was mind opening,? said Anderson. ‘I learned a lot. We were split in the dorm so we would meet as many people as possible. We really had a lot of bonding time.?
Grusnick, who returned to the camp as a TA, decided she wanted to go again after an incredible experience the previous year. She was selected by conference organizers to assist with leading the weekend.
‘We were the one’s that kept them motivated,? explained Grusnick. ‘We were their cheerleaders. We also ran the conference and assisted everyone where needed.?
‘I loved it last year, even though it was only one day,? she added. ‘I absolutely loved it and will be there again next year if I can.?
Anderson agreed and would also like to return as a TA if possible.
‘It was an incredible weekend,? she stated.
