An unfamiliar foe proved to be no problem for the Goodrich varsity girls basketball team.
The Martians jumped off to a quick start and never looked back on their way to a 60-24 win against visiting Fowlerville in their Nov. 15 district opener.
With the win, the Martians improved to 18-3 on the season. They took on Corunna in a district semifinal matchup Nov. 18. The winner of that game took on the winner of the other district semifinal game, Durand against Williamston, in the district championship game Nov. 20.
Goodrich outscored Fowlerville 19-6 in the first quarter and took a 33-15 lead at halftime.
Nykole Pfaff led the Martians in scoring with 18 points, while Autumn Haggadone added 11. Julie Owen contributed seven assists and Tara Garman chipped in with five steals.
