Runners are gearing up for this Saturday’s Oakland County Championships race in Milford and are using last week’s races to help prepare them.
The Lady Wolves faced strong competition from Troy in the second OAA Red Jamboree at Lake Orion last Wednesday.
The Colts finished in first as Clarkston Girls Cross Country finished in second place during the varsity race with 61 points.
Elizabeth Dalrymple led the pack finishing in fourth, 19:30.1. Mia Patria finished in sixth, 19:34; Mallory Ferguson, tenth, 19:57.1; Shannon Billette, 17th, 20:26.8; and Grace Nolan, 24th, 20:44.8.
The Lady Wolves finished in sixth place in the JV race with 160 points. The top five runners were Olivia Thomas, 23:14.7; Ashleigh Strong, 24:37.5; Madeline Forshey, 25:12.2; Kelsey Roth, 25:35.2; Heather Burrum, 26:05.8.
The Clarkston Boys Cross Country team finished in third place during the varsity race with 69 points as Oxford finished in first.
Nate Sesti led the pack, finishing in third place at 16:37.9. Brendan Favazza finished in seventh place, 17:02.6; Shawn Slater, eighth, 17:09.8; Christian Collis, 20th, 17:40.9; and Jeremy Cavallo, 32nd, 18:11.7.
The boys finished in fourth place in the JV race with 110 points. The top five runners were Bo Anderson, 19:09.3; Ryan Nicosia, 19:09.4; Eric Raines, 19:34.5; Alex Byrd, 19:35.2; and Luke Snudden, 19:49.6.
Runners continued their week at Hanson’s Invitational on Saturday.
The Lady Wolves finished in first place during the varsity race out of 17 teams with 41 points. Patria led the girls finishing in third place, 18:54. Ferguson finished in sixth place, 19:13; Dalrymple, seventh, 19:16; Billette, ninth, 19:26; Emily Gustafson, 16th, 20:15.
The girls also finished in first place during the JV race with 33 points. Hailey Catania led the team, finishing in first place, 20:40. Megan Ford finished in second, 20:44; Olivia Galio, seventh, 21:27; Jillian Haas, 11th, 21:45; and Thomas, 12th, 21:53.
The boys finished in third place in the varsity race out of 22 teams with 105 points. Favazza led the team finishing in tenth at 16:10.8. Sesti was close behind in 11th place at 16:18. Slater finished in 15th place, 16:36; Mark Sprague, 33rd, 17:18; and Cavallo, 36th, 17:20.4.
The Wolves finished in fourth place during the JV race out of 19 teams with 104 points. Carson Brock led the team, finishing in ninth place, 18:09. Anderson finished in 14th place, 18:15; Nicosia, 18th, 18:22; Raines, 42nd, 18:54; Jacob Carusello, 60th, 19:12.
The boys finished in the Jackson Invitational out of 21 teams, Sept. 23.
The Wolves scored 245 points with Slater and Sesti earning medals in the varsity race.
Slater finished in 19th place, 16:29.1, and Sesti finished in 26th place, 16:39.7 to lead the boys. Rounding off the top five runners for Clarkston were Favazza, 34th place, 17:00.6; Collis, 87th place, 17:48.2; and Sprague, 89th place, 17:49.3.
Ann Arbor Pioneer finished in first place, scoring 51.
The Lady Wolves varsity runners finished in seventh place with 178 points out of 20 teams.
Patria led, finishing in 15th place, 19:20.8; Ferguson, 24th place, 19:33; Dalrymple, 38th place, 19:55.2; Billette, 50th place, 20:16.5; and senior Emily Gustafson, 51st place, 20:17.5.
Northville finished in first place, scoring 88. Troy finished in second place, 92; Wheaton Warrenville South, third, 147.
