Raptors invaded the Oxford Public Library last week, but don’t worry! No one was injured, eaten or carried off by a set of sharp talons.
Environmentalist Nancy Sloan, of the Howell Conference and Nature Center, visited to delight children and parents with her educational and fun presentation, ‘Lords of the Sky: Birds of Prey.?
She brought a variety of live birds with her including a Great Horned Owl, Harlan’s Hawk (a red-trailed hawk), American kestrel (a small falcon), Eastern Screech Owl and the main attraction, a bald eagle named Keely.
Sloan explained how they hunt, what they eat, how long they live, where they can be found and other interesting facts.
