The Oxford runners came home to defeat Lapeer East on Oct. 1. The Oxford men won against East 15 to 48, while the girls took the lead with 26 points.
Placing for the boys were Donnie Richmond in first, Kenny White in second, Kevin Brown in third, German Guerrero in fourth, Tom Rowland in fifth and Todd Davidson in sixth. For the girls, Lauren Cribb came in second, Jacque Magdaleno in fourth, Roxanne Walter in fifth, Deann Kujawa in seventh and Katie Carroll in eighth.
The Cats then headed to the Oakland County Invitational, which incorporates every team in the county into one competition.
“This is an awesomely tough competition,” said Coach Ray Sutherland. “This is the hardest one of the year with every team in attendance.”
The Wildcat men placed ninth out of 39 teams and lowered last year’s score by 100 points. Team captain Donnie Richmond was the only medal winner placing ninth overall.
“With that many runners in attendance, placing in the top ten is very difficult,” said Sutherland.
The ladies placed 27 out of the 40 schools. No Oxford girls medaled in the competition.
The Wildcats next big meet is the Oxford Invitational this Friday, Oct. 10 in Seymour Lake Park.
