INDEPENDENCE TWP. — The Clarkston Boys Swim and Dive team finished in second place out of seven teams at the OAA Blue League Meet at home last week.
Nathan Feret, in the 50-yard freestyle; Ben Guzal, 200-yard IM; Jonathan George, 1-meter diving, and the 200-yard freestyle relay team finished as league champions with a first place finish.
Finishing in the top 16 to earn points for the team during the meet were: in the 50-yard freestyle, Feret in first place in the time of 22.85; Jonathan Young, sixth, 24.91; David Ryan, 11th, 25.36; 100-yard butterfly, Edward Zarzycki, fifth, 1:02.49; Craig Popiolek, seventh, 1:04.78; Zac Montgomery, eighth, 1:05.98; Diego Cordoba, tenth, 1:08.16; 100-yard freestyle, Braeden Covintree, second, 49.69; Feret, fourth, 50.90; Ryan Kornas, 13th, 1:00.97; 100-yard backstroke, Covintree, second, 57.35; Ben Guzal, third, 57.48; Jack Smith, sixth, 1:07.12; David Ryan, tenth, 1:09.17; 100-yard breaststroke, Young, fifth, 1:09.12; Montgomery, eighth, 1:13.15; Blake Davidson, 11th, 1:16.69; Yoshinori Mochizuki, 16th, 1:22.49; 200-yard freestyle, Smith, third, 2:00.45; Connor Quinlan, 13th, 2:18.31; Kornas, 15th, 2:21.22; 200-yard IM, Guzal, first, 2:09.30; Zarzycki, fifth, 2:27.46; Cordoba, tenth, 2:41.08; 500-yard freestyle, Blake Davidson, fourth, 5:43.98; and Popiolek, 12th, 6:21.53.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team with Guzal, Young, Zarzycki and Feret finished in first place in the time of 1:36.22.
The 200-yard medley relay team with Covintree, Guzal, Zarzycki and Feret finished in second place in the time of 1:48.58.The 400-yard freestyle relay team with Smith, Ryan, Popiolek and Covintree finished in fourth place in the time of 3:38.45.
For 1-meter diving, Jonathan George finished in first place with 289.70 points after 11 dives; and Rockett George, second, 281.45.
Royal Oak finished in first place with 440 points; Clarkston, second, 427.5; North Farmington, third, 334; Berkley, fourth, 251.5; Ferndale, fifth, 205; Avondale, sixth, 139; and Southfield A&T, seventh, 83. -Wendi Price
