The Lady Wolves ended the week with a doubleheader win against Rochester last Friday night as Clarkston honored their seniors.
“It was a nice day and a sad day,” said Clarkston Varsity Softball Head Coach Don Peters. “They have been together and with me for 3-4 years.”
The Lady Wolves won the first game, 13-8. Hannah Chadwell hit 2-for-4 with a homerun and two RBIs while Mariah Hood hit 3-for-4. Paige Blevins and Maddie Scarsella both hit a double and had one RBI each while Maddie Beck had two runs off one hit.
Hailey Minton was the winning pitcher while she was on the mound for four innings.
The Lady Wolves closed the second game in five innings. They scored a combination of seven runs during the first two innings and during the fourth inning had seven runs. They finished the game with a 16-2 win.
Abby Skvarce hit 4-for-4 with a double and had three RBIs.
“As usual she was hitting the snot out of the ball,” Peters said.
Blevins went 3-for-4 with a double, two homeruns and four RBIs.
Hood went 3-for-3 at bat, hitting a double and had one RBI. Chadwell had two RBIs with a double.
Savannah Spring had two RBIs. Isabella Roselli hit a double and had one RBI.
Abbey Pierce, Sarah Gladding and Scarsella had one RBI each. Minton pitched five innings and had three strikeouts and one earned run.
Clarkston also defeated Rochester Adams on Thursday before the weather slowed down the game, 8-3. Skvarce went 3-for-4 and hit two doubles and homerun. Chadwell went 2-for-3 and had three RBIs.
Peters added highlights during the game included Maddie Scarsella making a save with a dive and Paige Blevins having a phenomenal week hitting.
Clarkston (21-6) hosts Farmington on Wednesday and heads to a tournament this weekend where they face three state ranked teams in their pool play.
“The girls will get a lot of experience against good teams,” Peters said, adding the next few weeks will be busy as the season winds down before district playoffs begin the week of May 30.
