Suicidal woman found in woods by deputies

A 24-year-old Bruce Twp. woman was admitted to Crittenton Hospital for psychological evaluation last Wednesday after leading sheriff’s deputies on a chase that resembled a scence from an action movie through four communities in Oakland and Macomb counties.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s report, Addison and Oakland township deputies were dispatched to the wooded area off Glen Meadow Lane in the evening where they believed a woman, who was reported to be suicidal, was located.
Sgt. Pete Burkett, commander of the Addison substation, said this is the second time in two years the department has had to help apprehend the woman, who threatens to kill ‘her family, herself and anybody who comes in contact with her.?
‘She kind of runs out in the woods and plays Rambo,? Burkett said. ‘She had dirt on her face, she wore dark clothes to camouflage herself and she had several large kitchen-type knives on her.?
After sheriff’s deputies from Oxford, Orion and Oakland and the K9-unit helped secure the perimeter, according to the report, the aviation unit was called to the scene, but couldn’t locate the woman in Addison Twp.
Using its Foward Looking Infrared (FLIR) device, which detects body heat, the sheriff’s helicopter later located the woman in a wooded area behind her address in Bruce Twp.
‘It’s just great we had those helicopters because they were able to use the FLIR and locate her through her body temperature,? Burkett said. ‘The helicopter was able to talk our deputies right into where she was.?
The Addison Fire Department transported the woman without incident to Crittenton Hospital in Rochester for evaluation.
