Swimmers finish 6th at FML meet

The Oxford Varsity swim team finished its inaugural season with a sixth-place finish in the Flint Metro League conference swim meet.
They finished with 147.5 points, 43 points behind the team from Lapeer. The swimmers from Holly dominated the competition, winning by a 202 point margin over second place Fenton.
The individual results are as follows:
In the 200 Medley Relay, the Wildcat relay of Sophomore Kyle Shick, Junior Coty Perreault, Freshman Joey Tasch and Junior Travis Roth finished sixth with a time of 2:06.57.
In the 200 Freestyle, Sophomore Zack Venema finished 16th with a time of 2:19.19. In the Prelims, the set a new pool record of 2:15.32.
In the 200 Individual Medley, Junior Andrew Raczka’s time of 2:26.90 was the 10th best time in the meet and a new pool record. Freshman Jacob Pierzinski came in 13th and Roth came in 14th for the Wildcats.
In the 50 Freestyle, Raczka came in 12th for the Wildcats with a time of 25.16 and Sophomore Jimmy Walker tied for 13th with a swimmer from Brandon.
In the 100 Fly, Sophomore Jimmy Walker finished ninth for the Wildcats with his time of 1:10.20 and Sophomore Corey Bell’s time of 1:16.53 placed him 12th.
In the 500 Free, Tasch came in 14th with a time of 6:13.18, which is a new pool record. Venema came in 15th with a time of 6:20.58.
In the 200 Free Relay, the A-relay team of Pierzinski, Senior Spencer Britt, Walker and Raczka finished fifth with a time of 1:44.09.
In the 100 Backstroke, Shick, who in the Prelims set the school record for the event with a time of 1:09.02, finished eighth with a time of 1:09.40. Junior Cody Fredericks finished 10th with a time of 1:12.77 and Freshman Taylor Keller time of 1:19.63 rounded out of the top 16.
In the 100 Breaststroke, Pierzinski came in 13th, setting a pool record with his time of 1:18.05.
In the 400 Free Relay, the A-relay of Raczka, Walker, Britt and Pierzinski finished sixth with a time of 3:56.21. In the Prelims on Friday, the A relay set the school record with a time of 3:55.16.
Wildcat Swim Head Coach Jackie Boswell was pleased with the way the season went. She is looking to improve her team for next swim season. ‘Next year we will be looking to implement more diving into the program and I plan on work to make the boys more efficient by working on stroke work, underwaters and flipturns? she said.
‘We are really going to miss our only Senior, Spencer Britt? she added. ‘He was a great captain and a valuable addition to the team. We look forward to having everyone back next year for a successful second season.?
