An Independence Township 16-year-old was transported to St. Joe’s Hospital for unspecified injuries after being involved in an accident on Sashabaw Road with a suspected drunk driver.
Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 38-year-old Waterford man for operating his vehicle while intoxicated following the accident which occurred around 8:24 p.m.
According to reports, the man was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram south on Sashabaw Road as the teen’s 1993 Jeep Wrangler pulled from a gas station. The impact of the accident reportedly spun the teen’s car 180 degrees.
The teen was transported to St. Joe’s Hospital for treatment. The Waterford man, who denied drinking, failed a preliminary breath test with a .10 blood alcohol level and was transported to Oakland County Jail.
The Dodge Ram suffered damage to the right front, but the air bags did not deploy. The Jeep had damage to the left front of the vehicle.
