Thompson wins $1,000 scholarship from Kingsbury

Congratulations to Oxford teen Madeline ‘Maddy? Thompson for winning the $1,000 Justin A. Schwartz Memorial Scholarship.
The thirteen-year-old daughter of Gary and Sally Thompson is an eighth-grader at Kingsbury School and won the scholarship on June 10.
The Schwartz scholarship is given annually to a graduating Kingsbury student who strives toward high academic achievement, works hard and is always ready to lend a hand, loves athletics, is happy, laughing, caring and ready to join in activities and shows respect for his or her peers as well as faculty at Kingsbury.
‘It feels good because they call me an ‘exemplary Kingsbury student,?? she said. ‘It’s kind of cool.?
Thompson also won Kingsbury’s Cougar Award for outstanding contributions in athletics. She was a member of the soccer, basketball and volleyball team at Kingsbury and said she also plays golf with her father.
The scholarship was made in memory of Justin Schwartz, son of Pat and Karen Schwartz of Dryden, who died in a tragic accident at the age of 13.
In addition to her accomplishments, Thompson ranked fifth in the state in this year’s national Spanish Exam competition and ninth in the nation.
Thompson will be attending the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Bloomfield Hills, next fall.
