Clarkston girls basketball team has been able to hang with some of the best teams in the state over the past two weeks.
Clarkston led 26-25 on Sept. 22 before losing 51-44 to No. 2 West Bloomfield. Then against No. 3 Southfield Lathrup on Sept. 29 only trailed by three points with three minutes remaining in the game before losing 44-35.
‘There is not many teams that play the schedule we play this year. We want to play in Division I and play the best,? said Clarkston Coach Tim Wasilk.
In between their defeats to ranked opponents Clarkston picked up a 40-29 win against Waterford Mott on Sept. 27. The Wolves record is now 4-5 (2-2)
Junior Chelsea Kouri led the Wolves in scoring this past week, pouring in 14 against Mott and 16 against Lathrup.
The OAA Division I is stocked with good basketball teams. Clarkston will see West Bloomfield and Lathrup each one more time in league play this season and has two games remaining against No.1 Avondale this year.
Up next though for the Wolves is Pontiac Northern at home on Oct. 6.
