Wolves clinch victory over Eagles in OAA league play

FERNDALE — The Clarkston Boys Basketball added one more victory in the OAA Red League with a 67-58 win over Ferndale last Thursday.
“It was a very good game,” said Tim Wasilk, head coach. “Our guys were ready. They were focused and it was a great team win. We played really well. Defensively we were really sharp, did a really good job of taking away their three-point shots. We shot the ball extremely well. We made eight 3-pointers as a team. We played with good energy. They were a really good team. They’re well coached. It’s good to go on the road and get a good league win at Ferndale.”
Senior Quinn Rosenberg led the team, scoring 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals with five 3-pointers. Junior Hayden Flavin had 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists. Junior Cole Charter had 14 points, five assists and five steals. Junior John Kaul had 13 points and two rebounds with two 3-pointers. Junior Hayden Burrow had nine rebounds and three assists.
JV and the freshman teams also defeated Ferndale. JV posted a 70-45 win with freshman Owen Poole leading with 21 points. The freshman won their game, 48-38. Both remain undefeated in the OAA Red with seven wins in the league.
The Wolves opened the week with a non-league game at Bloomfield Hills on Tuesday.
Clarkston (12-3, 5-2 OAA Red) hosts on West Bloomfield (5-9, 2-4) this Friday for Fife for a Cure.
“We are super excited about it,” said Wasilk about the event and the game. “It should be a great event. West Bloomfield is in our league. They’re a very good team. We’re super excited about getting people out for the cause. Hopefully everyone will be dressed in purple. We’ve got purple shirts we all ordered for the game. Hopefully it will be a big night.”
All the proceeds will be donated to Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Center to honor the memory and legacy of Dan Fife; and Rogel Cancer Center Pancreative Cancer Fund to honor the memory and legacy of Jan Fife.
The boys freshman (15-0, 7-0 OAA Red) play the Lakers at Clarkston Junior High School at 5 p.m.
The boys JV (13-2, 7-0 OAA) kick off Fife for a Cure at Clarkston High School at 4 p.m., followed by the girls varsity basketball game, Clarkston Unified game, and boys varsity game.
The JV and varsity teams host North Farmington on Tuesday, Feb. 4. JV begins at 5:30 p.m. The freshman team heads to North Farmington for a 5:30 p.m. start.
