Over nine months after the original incident, the case involving a Dec. 3 arson on Main Street is now over.
Emily O’Connor, 21, who plead guilty to one count of arson and one count of assault and battery on March 8, was sentenced Sept. 6 after a delay created when she was ruled incompetent for sentencing.
Judge Colleen O’Brien of Oakland County Circuit Court sentenced O’Connor, to 2 ? 20 years on the arson charge and 93 days for the assault and battery, with credit for 276 days served on both sentences.
‘The judge followed the law and the sentence was in the guidelines,? said Assistant Prosecutor Barb Morrison.
Sentencing procedures were delayed in March when O’Connor was disruptive in court and thought to be incompetent. The Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Ypsilanti ruled her incompetent for sentencing on May 16, said Barb Morrison.
The charges resulted from a Dec 3. argument between O’Connor and her mother which led to the house fire on Main Street causing an estimated $50,000 in damage and sent the mother to the hospital.
