An 18-year-old Waterford Township man was killed in a traffic collision, 1:42 a.m., Oct. 11.
He was in the front passenger seat of a Dodge Neon when the driver ran a stop sign at Mann Road and Clintonville Road, according to Oakland County Sheriff’s reports.
The Neon was struck on the passenger side door by a pickup truck heading south on Clintonville Road. The 18-year-old, as well as the driver, a 20-year-old Waterford Township woman, and passenger in the backseat, a 20-year-old Waterford Township man, had to be extricated from the vehicle. The teenager was pronounced deceased at the scene via telemetry provided to a physician from McLaren Osteopathic Hospital – Oakland.
The driver and back seat passenger were taken to McLaren Osteopathic Hospital for medical treatment of non-life threatening injuries and are listed in stable condition. The driver of the pickup, a 31-year-old Waterford Township man, was not injured.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Unit assisted with the crash investigation. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor at this time, and it appears occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
