35 personal bests posted during league swim meet

Even though the final stats might not bear it out, the varsity girls swim and dive team had a pretty successful night in the pool during the Oakland Activities Association white division league meet last week.
The Wildcats finished seventh out of seven team with 174 points, but according to swim coach Jackie Rank, 35 members of the swim team posted their personal best times during the meet.
‘I’m really pleased with how well the girls swam on Wednesday and Friday,? she said. ‘Of our 43 individual entries, 35 posted their best time of the season Wednesday and Friday night.?
Rochester Stoney Creek won the meet with 403 points.
Individual results are as follows:
200 Medley Relay – The A relay of freshmen Sydney Liverance, sophomore Elizabeth Wilkins, sophomore Rose FitzCrane and freshmen Abbie Fredericks finished fifth with a time of 2:10.66.
200 Freestyle – Freshmen Taylor Curtis qualified for states and finished sixth in a time of 2:02.81. On Wednesday, she posted a time 2:02.24. Senior captain Claire Patrell was 15th for Oxford.
200 Individual Medley – Kornburger won the event for the Wildcats with a time of 2:14.20. On Wednesday, Kornburger swam the event in 2:13.07, a school and pool record.
50 Freesstyle – Senior captain Amanda delaPaz finished eighth with a time of 27.31, while on Wednesday she posted a time of 26.88. Freshmen Allison Miller and Fredericks finished 14th and 15th respectively.
100 Butterfly – Kornburger set a pool and school record with her first place time of 58.53.
100 Freestyle – Curtis finished third and qualified for states with a time of 55.67. delaPaz finished ninth and Patrell was 15th for the Wildcats.
100 Backstroke – Liverance came in 10th with a time of 1:10.33 while junior Caitlyn Wroblewski finished 15th for Oxford.
100 Breaststroke – Wilkins finished ninth with a personal best time of 1:18.71.
400 Freestyle Relay – Oxford’s A relay of Curtis, delaPaz, Patrell and Kornburger finished fourth and set a school record with their time of 3:50.42.
Up next for the Wildcats is a swim at Waterford Mott High School on Sunday, Nov. 13.
Heading to states on Nov. 18-19 at Eastern Michigan University will be Curtis, Kornburger, delaPaz and Patrell. Curtis qualified for the 200 and 100 freestyle, while Kornburger qualified in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle, the 100 butterfly, the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley.
Patrell and delaPaz will be part of the 400 freestyle relay team.
