A five-year-old girl was run over by a van she was attempting to board in the Waldon Lakes Apartments complex on Joslyn Road on March 25.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred at 7:05 p.m. on Mapleview, east of Elmhurst. The girl was attempting to jump into a van just as it was driving away, and was run over.
The van was driven by a 16-year-old Oxford resident who did not see the girl trying to get in the van. The five-year-old was transported to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital by ambulance and was reported critical.
The OCSD Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident, and said that alcohol was not a factor.
