Kay Robertson has reached a milestone as a member of the Clarkston Farm and Garden Club. Robertson joined the club in 1967 and is celebrating 50 years with the organization.
Robertson has always been passionate about her adopted community and the Clarkston Farm and Garden Club..
She moved to Clarkston in 1958, after graduating from Albion College and marrying her husband Charles Robertson, a fourth generation resident of Clarkston.
Kay was a Reading Specialist in the Clarkston Schools for 29 years. Kay and Charles “Chuck” Robertson raised their three children in Clarkston.
She has served the Clarkston Farm and Garden Club through holding many offices in the club including president as well as being active in activities. Her work in education and Garden Club have intertwined over the years as Garden Club members read to second grade students in March and facilitate an assembly on Michigan Mammals in May for fourth graders.
Robertson sells wreaths and roping for the club in November, always participates in the Perennial Plant Exchange, the Garden Walk and the Greens Market. She also helped with the Library gardens including the 50th year garden in front of the library.
As a member, she knows everyone in the club and attends the Michigan District meetings of the organization and has many friends among the other branches.
Club members created a book of memories for Robertson, with photos dating back 50 years. A champagne toast was also given for her dedication and active participation in the club for 50 years.
